Welcome to the new generation of metal detectors from the leading Metal Detecting brand in the UK, Minelab. The Equinox 700 sits in the metal detector range just above the Equinox 600 and below the 800 and 900. As with the Equinox 900, the Equinox 700 has a telescopic, carbon fibre stem, ensuring that weight is kept low, and that space is never a factor when the machine is not in use. The machine also boasts the new improved 5 metre waterproof rating, and also the new style arm cup (as seen on Minelab’s flagship coin and treasure detector, the Manticore).

The Equinox 700 also uses Multi-IQ, Minelab’s patented multi-frequency detecting system, which allows the machine to search on multiple frequencies at the same time. This additional information provides a better representation of the targets below ground and therefore allows the detectorist a sophisticated decision-making process.

After my wife and I discovered our shared interest in metal detecting, I dedicated hours to investigating the most suitable detector for beginners. Amidst a plethora of choices, I determined that the Equinox 700, a reasonably priced detector featuring a user-friendly interface and cutting-edge technology, was the optimal option.

During our use of the 700, we have uncovered remarkable discoveries, ranging from ancient Roman coins predating the Common Era to a spearhead dating back 4,000 years. This device is capable of detecting even the smallest Roman minims and slithers of lead & bronze. The distinct sound they emit makes it impossible to resist digging deeper into the ground to uncover the treasures hidden beneath - sometimes!

Whilst I cannot say this machine will be the perfect choice for you, it has proven to be perfect for us. Yes, we do want to upgrade to the Manticore at some point, but until that time, the 700 will be our tool of choice.
