Coming Soon 1-2-1 basic training for beginners

Hello, and welcome back to Magpie Metal Detectors Ltd.

We are striving everyday to bring you products which we hope compliment your experience when out-and-about detecting. We all know just how annoying fly's and bug's can be, so by selling head-nets we are helping eliminate that problem. By selling products like this and others, we are aiming to be more than "the norm".

Let's be honest, you can buy a metal detector from many online sources and they are all at the same price, so why buy from us? The simple answer is I don't have a simple answer for you! I would hope people buy locally, but when businesses are becoming more online led, "local" isn't really a thing anymore, especially when we all delivery throughout the UK and offer quick delivery. Is it the service you receive? It should be, but again, when you're buying online are you actually receiving any meaningful service? Unfortunately, no is the answer. We would love to be able to change that, and hopefully, those who have spoken to us so far have left the conversation happier than when they called, regardless of whether we could provide what they wanted. Service is everything in sales. The simple fact is people buy from people. It is hard to do that through an online portal!

If you don't have a physical premises, then you are fighting a very difficult battle. We are very aware this venture is fraught with pitfalls, but we love detecting. We want to be able to make a difference to our fellow detectorists which is why we are really trying to be different.

Our latest venture is into the world of basic training for complete beginners. I wish there was somewhere my wife and I could have gone before we committed to buying our detectors. Not because we needed help choosing what was right for us, but because we had no real idea of what we were doing when we had it! YouTube videos helped, as did a lovely salesperson from Joan Allen's (sadly missed), but it doesn't beat someone spending actual time with you explaining what it is you need to do, to give yourself the best chance of finding historic items.

We will bring the detector, an Equinox 700. It is an excellent machine for beginners and seasoned detectorists. We will show you how it works, what does what, and what it all means. We will keep it simple. Learning how to swing properly is very important. We often see detectorists swinging into the sky and wonder how they are finding anything! Being able to distinguish the different sounds and understand the VDU (Visual Display Unit) is obviously super important, and that will be covered too. We will be with you every step of the way, even when you are ready to walk-off on your own to practice, we'll be there, ready and waiting to assist. We will also cover off permissions, NCMD (National Council for Metal Detecting) and anything else relevant.

The course is aimed at the complete novice. The people who don't want to invest in a machine just in case they don't like it. Whether we like it or not, this hobby isn't for everyone, and I would rather a person find that out for themselves before they spend a minor fortune! If a new person starting our hobby can gain a little bit of experience before heading out on their own, then their interest will very soon turn to love.

I thought I'd give AI a chance to rewrite the above and this is it (I prefer mine):

Hey there, fellow treasure hunters!

We're not your average metal detector shop here at Magpie Metal Detectors. Sure, we sell the usual suspects - detectors, accessories, and those lifesaving head nets (because let's face it, nobody wants to share their detecting spot with a swarm of flies). But we're aiming to be something different.

You might be wondering, "Why should I buy from these folks?" Fair question. These days, everyone's selling detectors online at pretty much the same prices. The old "buy local" charm isn't what it used to be, especially when we're all shipping across the UK anyway. And let's be honest - clicking "add to cart" isn't exactly a personal experience, is it?

That's exactly why we're shaking things up. Every time someone reaches out to us, we want them to hang up feeling better than when they called - whether we could help them or not. Because at the end of the day, this isn't just about selling stuff. It's about building a community of passionate detectorists.

Speaking of passion - we're super excited about our newest adventure: beginner training sessions! Remember when you first started detecting? That overwhelming moment when you're standing in a field with your brand new detector, wondering which button does what? Yeah, we've been there too.

Here's what we're offering: hands-on training with an Equinox 700 (a fantastic machine that's perfect for both newcomers and pros). We'll show you everything from the basics of proper swinging technique (no sky-pointing, we promise!) to understanding those mysterious beeps and boops. You'll learn how to read the display, get your permissions sorted, and all the other essential bits that YouTube videos just can't teach properly.

The best part? You don't need to own a detector to try it out. We know metal detecting isn't everyone's cup of tea (shocking, we know), and we'd rather you discover that before investing your hard-earned cash in equipment. Think of it as a "try before you buy" experience, but with expert guidance every step of the way.

Our goal is simple: we want to help turn your curiosity about metal detecting into a full-blown passion. Because once you experience that first genuine find - that moment when you unearth a piece of history - there's no turning back.

Ready to start your treasure-hunting journey? We're here to help, every beep of the way!
